Equipment & clothing rental

The more days you book, the more you save.
everything you need for your trip

Get the gear you need

Whether you're hitting the slopes on skis or a snowboard, you'll need a few key pieces of gear to stay safe and have fun! Make sure you've got your skis or snowboard, boots, poles (ski only), and a helmet for protection.

Layer up with a good base layer, a warm mid-layer, and a waterproof jacket to keep dry and cozy. We have great rental options to keep you dry on the slopes.

Don’t forget gloves, goggles and beanie to protect your hands, eyes, and head from the cold, we don't rent these items, but do sell at our Ohakune and on-mountain retail locations. Rental helmets are a great option for keeping warm dry & safe - these can be rented on site.

If you’re sledding, snow boots and a weatherproof jacket are recommended.

Layer up

Merino wool layers are your best friend on the slopes. They keep you warm when it’s chilly and cool when you’re working up a sweat. And don’t forget your weatherproof jacket—it’ll keep you dry and comfy, no matter what the weather throws at you.

stay Sunsafe

Even if it’s cloudy, don’t skip the sunscreen. Make sure it’s broad-spectrum to protect your skin from UV rays. Also, grab some SPF lip balm and sunglasses or goggles to protect your eyes. It’s an easy way to avoid sunburn and keep your skin and eyes safe while you’re out there shredding the slopes.

Safe & warm

Helmets are strongly recommended, even if you're just starting out. They’ll keep you safe in case of a fall and help keep your head warm. Trust us, it’s a small thing that makes a big difference when you’re out there having fun.

FAQs

Check out our most frequently asked questions

Where can I collect my ski pass?

Collect your ski pass from our pick-up kiosks. You’ll find them on-mountain outside & inside Guest Services or pick your pass up before you head up here at our town store or TCB Ohakune.

Where do I collect or drop off my rentals?

Rentals can be purchased online and collected up the hill in Rentals, beside Guest Services. If you need to drop off equipment in Ohakune, you can do this at our town store.

If the mountain is closed, what do I do?

Single day tickets or packages can be used on any day of the season (subject to weekend/weekday) or exchanged for mountain credit if this doesn't suit. Come and see us at our town store or email us at info@pureturoa.nz. Multi day tickets will be refunded to mountain credit per the difference of days used (this only applies to days where the chairlifts are not operating). You will be contacted if you have lessons booked on a day that is closed.

What should I bring with me for a day at Tūroa?

Winter conditions and weather on the mountain can change quickly. Rain or shine it's best to have waterproof outerwear, eye protection and sunscreen. If you arrive without something you need we have an extensive rentals and retail offering on the mountain.

Is Tūroa good for beginners?

Absolutely. We’ve got custom packages designed specifically for beginners to help you get started the right way. Check out our first-time packages for the best value to get you – or your family – out on the snow.

Can we watch the kids without skiing ourselves?

Freddie's eatery and the Alpine Café are located at the base and can be easily accessed from the carpark. Both venues have great views over the Alpine meadow beginners area.

Are there facilities at the top for sightseers?

Sightseeing is on the Park Lane chair lift. The Snowflake cafe at the top is open Wednesday - Sunday & every day during school holidays. There are toilets available at the top of the chair everyday.

What are the food/drink options at Tūroa?

We have both a grab & go and an à la carte restaurant at the base area. There are two more cafes on the mountain, the Snowflake at the top of the Parklane chair and the Giant at the top of the Giant chair.

Can I bring a packed lunch?

You are welcome to bring a packed lunch with you, however these can only be consumed in the designated areas. Please follow the pack in - pack out rule and take any rubbish back down with you.
